Zakharova Confirms Contacts with Azerbaijan, Criticizes Armenia’s Ban on Russian Citizens
On July 9, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova confirmed ongoing operational contacts with Azerbaijan via law enforcement, urged that issues be resolved through diplomatic channels, and criticized Armenia’s ban on certain Russian citizens as an unfriendly act.
Zakharova stated that Russia maintains operational contacts with Azerbaijan through law enforcement agencies and that any emerging issues should be addressed through political and diplomatic channels.
During the same briefing, Zakharova described Armenia’s decision to ban the entry of certain Russian citizens as an "unfriendly measure" that contradicted the allied nature of their relations. "We have repeatedly called on our Armenian partners to stop this vicious practice," she said, adding that Moscow is awaiting Yerevan's response to proposals made during Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s visit in May.
