On April 4, Shalva Papuashvili, the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, criticized foreign ambassadors for meddling in Georgia’s internal affairs and condemned their reactions to recent protests.

During a briefing, Papuashvili described diplomatic interference as an alarming trend, accusing several ambassadors of exceeding international legal boundaries. He remarked, "For some reason, certain diplomats feel free to interfere in Georgia’s internal affairs despite clear international legal restrictions." According to Papuashvili, this behavior includes "incompetent comments" and "attacks on the Georgian judicial system, parliament, and the population that elected this parliament."

Papuashvili also pointed out that during recent protests, he had urged embassies to condemn the attack on the Georgian parliament building. Instead, he noted, they responded with encouragement rather than disapproval.
