On March 6, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced that Russia would provide emergency assistance to separatist Abkhazia to address its ongoing power supply crisis caused by adverse climatic conditions.

During a briefing, Peskov explained that cold weather in the mountains had prevented snow from melting, leading to insufficient water levels for hydroelectric power generation and, consequently, a shortage of local electricity production. He emphasized that "Russia's prompt assistance is needed to urgently organize the continuation of power lines" and that in this emergency situation, "Russia cannot stay on the sidelines, and energy supply will continue."

Peskov also stated that any agreement on power supply should take into account the interests of all parties involved. He noted, "Indeed, there will be constructive contacts, and the interests of all will be considered. What should be the foundation? The foundation should be mutual respect and mutual benefit."
