On November 10, Nikol Pashinyan, the Prime Minister of Armenia, met with members of the Armed Forces leadership during an operational session held at the Ministry of Defense. During the meeting, Pashinyan emphasized the significance of ongoing modernization within the army and highlighted the need for consistent and practical measures to advance this process. The discussion focused on the strategic vision for developing the Armed Forces, assessing the new security environment, improving management systems, enhancing human resources, and addressing other related matters. The Prime Minister also responded to various questions raised by the Armed Forces leadership.

Notably, according to a report by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), India supplied 43% of Armenia’s total arms imports during 2022-2024. There are reports that Armenia is now negotiating a much larger, landmark deal with India: possibly an acquisition of Su-30MKI fighter jets (Indian-built) valued at USD 2.5-3 billion, involving perhaps 8-12 aircraft in the first phase. Analysts note that Armenia’s supplier landscape is shifting: historically, Russia was the dominant source (accounting for ~90+% of arms imports) but its share has fallen sharply as Armenia diversifies.
