Kobakhidze States Labeling Georgian Dream As Pro-Russian Is Unconstitutional
On October 30, Irakli Kobakhidze, the Prime Minister of Georgia, stated that labeling the Georgian Dream party as pro-Russian was unconstitutional. During his remarks, Kobakhidze questioned, "What could be more unconstitutional than accusing a people-elected government of acting on the orders of a state that has occupied 20% of our territory? What could be more harmful and unconstitutional than that?" He further accused the United National Movement (UNM), founded by former President Mikheil Saakashvili, of provoking the August 2008 war. According to Kobakhidze, the actions of the UNM while in power represented "a direct chronicle of betrayal" and paved the way for "direct Russian interference."
