On June 30, Esmail Baqaei, the Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, criticized the wording of a paragraph directed against Armenia in a recent Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) statement, emphasizing that such documents may include positions not reflecting the stance of every member state.

Baqaei stated that while OIC member states may jointly issue statements, individual paragraphs can contain language that does not represent the views of all participants. Referring to a specific phrase in the document, reportedly mentioning the "Western Azerbaijan community," Baqaei emphasized, "We have always advocated peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Peace and security in the South Caucasus are important to us, and we have good relations with both countries. At the same time, we do not approve of the use of certain terms and words in this particular paragraph."

Baqaei underscored that Iran found the wording completely inappropriate and reaffirmed Tehran’s consistent policy of promoting stability and peaceful relations in the region.
