Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan announced that he has received an official invitation from the U.S. Deputy Secretary of Commerce to visit Washington, D.C., for talks on expanding bilateral economic cooperation.

Speaking at the National Assembly on October 13, Papoyan said discussions will focus on two key topics: the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) investment program and opportunities for major American companies to enter the Armenian market. “We are conducting numerous studies and working in parallel,” he said, noting recent meetings with international brands, including Starbucks’ regional director.

Papoyan stressed the government’s cautious approach to public announcements. “We do not announce anything until an agreement is reached with the brand. We speak only when the brand agrees, or when we reach a phase where they are most likely coming,” he explained.

He added that comprehensive market research is underway to assess profitability and local demand. Papoyan also cited a recent $135 million loan agreement between Armenia’s Ardshinbank and U.S.-based ContourGlobal as proof of growing confidence in Armenia’s economy.

“I believe that in the future we will sense a greater presence and breath of the American economy, American brands, and American investments in Armenia,” Papoyan concluded.
