The European Union has transferred €5.5 million to Armenia’s state budget following the successful completion of the Support to Justice Sector Reforms in Armenia, Phase II program, the Ministry of Justice announced.

Justice Minister Srbuhi Galyan met with EU Ambassador to Armenia Vassilis Maragos to discuss the results of the program and ongoing cooperation between Armenia and the European Union in the field of judicial reform.

According to the ministry, all key performance indicators under the financing agreement were met, including reforms in the judiciary and anti-corruption fields, the development of public communication strategies, and the creation of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms such as the Armenian Arbitration and Mediation Center.

The program also supported the introduction of integrity checks for prosecutors and investigators, as well as mechanisms for the conditional non-application of punishment aimed at promoting rehabilitation and reducing recidivism.

The ministry emphasized that continued EU support remains vital for enhancing transparency, accountability, and efficiency within Armenia’s justice system, reinforcing the broader democratic reform agenda.
